A recent blog posting by Sarah Rosner at The Urgent Artist reviewed the arguments that erupted in New York in 2005 on the role of the dance critic and their responsibilities to the audience and the work.
The discussions make for fascinating reading, beginning with a review by Joan Acocella in The New Yorker and the response from Tere O'Connor that started the fire. While the participants may have moved on the arguments are still valid today and apply as much to Australia as they do to New York. |
